Steven Trolland
British Snowboard ChampionHowever, despite my efforts, one silly mistake on the Giant Slalom course meant I only succeeded in acquiring 7th place. Having spent all my money on this and travelling to and from the race this meant that I had no money left over for food and didn’t eat for a day and a half. I eventually got something to eat through a friend scrounging left over food from her place of work. At the end of the season, I acquired a little work with Supreme Ski School and the owners helped me with a lift back home to Aviemore. Before heading out to Courchevel, France my preparation in the summer for 2000/2001 season this involved having to find employment, find sponsorship, plan my career and develop a strict fitness programme with help of Alan Baxter and others. Also with assistance from family and friends and through spending most of my wages, I developed my new portfolio and sent it round Local Companies to ask for Sponsorship. Fortunately, an employee of United Distilleries, Alison was impressed by my portfolio, struggles and challenges, achievements and determination and had passed my portfolio on to the Steven Marmian, Head of Marketing for Smirnoff Ice. Following a lot of work, phone calls and meetings I received a joint sponsorship of £3000 paid in instalments over the winter season from Smirnoff Ice and the Ice Factory Nightclub in Perth. more> Stevens Diary
