Steven Trolland
British Snowboard ChampionWith limited Sponsorship I had to purchase lift pass and accommodation and this accounted for half of my sponsorship money. I still had five months of living expenses and public transport travel costs but fortunately, I secured part-time employment in Courchevel with Supreme Ski School run by Alan Baxter’s mother Sue Dixon and her husband Kenny. My first Giant Slalom F.I.S. race was in Alp D’ Heuz in France. Although it was only a two-hour drive from Courchevel, France it took me seven hours on public transport. Luckily I was in contact with friends there that I met at the previous British Championships who gave me directions to the race and helping me with cheap accommodation. Having no F.I.S. points yet, my starting position was nearly last and the course was very rutted due to around eighty racers having gone down before me. I managed to stay on the course and finish the race and gained just a few points. This started my progression to a better starting position. While working for Supreme Ski School I repaired skis and fitting boots, they allowed me free use of their racing gates to assist my daily training, mostly at Giant Slalom. more> Stevens Diary
