Why Snowboarding

Often enjoying a wee ski myself now and then, I managed a 3rd position at the British Championships Skier-cross with hired equipment and beating some sponsored riders.

Snowboarding is one of fastest growing sports in the World and Boardercross along with Half Pipe and Giant Slalom is now an Olympic event and taking part in the Turin-Italy 2006 Winter Olympic Games.

I find Snowboarding a quicker sport to learn, as on a board you have only two edges and just one object to control, where on skies you have four edges and two objects to control. The thing lots of people might find more inviting to Skiing is that it’s more natural with your whole body facing forwards all the time, where in snowboarding your body is facing more to the side, which if you try, you’ll find it doesn’t take that long to over come.

Snowboarding is what you want it to be! Snowboarding doesn’t always have to involve sliding down rails, going in the Half Pipe and doing massive and mad jumps, as what the impression is given and always shown in magazines!
